Art / Art History

Art has been defined by one dictionary as "the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power," but it is much more than that.

Art (and art history) encompasses the appreciation of art, and includes such skills as painting, drawing, sculpture. Careers that one can pursue with a major in art and art history include: animation, architecture, art direction, interior design, CAD technician, web design, museum curation and art restoration.

An associate degree in Fine & Applied Arts not only prepares students to work in arts-related fields, but also fosters the skills necessary in any profession involving visual culture in its broadest sense, historical and cultural understanding, critical analysis, persuasive argumentation, thorough research, and effective writing.
